Transfer: Heskey says he’s ready and tough for Aston Villa, comments on Arsenal’s bid for Morgan Rogers

Former Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey said Morgan Rogers is ready to step up if Arsenal sign him this summer.

Heskey added that it would be difficult for Villa, noting that Unai Emery’s side must try to retain the England international.

When asked about Rogers’ possible move to the Emirates Stadium, Heskey replied, “He’s definitely ready for that step up.”

“Villa’s in a difficult position where they have to sell players to balance the books,” he said. “But look, I think for Villa they’ve got to try and keep players like that. You can’t keep selling.”

“I was at Villa when Ashley Young left, Gareth Barry left, and James Milner left. Players like Stewart Downing left. They are really trying to build on top of that and have a go. So it’s tough for them.”
