Transfer: Aguero advises Atletico Madrid to sell Alvarez

Former Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero has suggested that Atlético Madrid sell Julian Álvarez if the player is unhappy at the club.

Agüero made the comment during an interview with Jijantes following Álvarez’s confirmation that he wishes to depart the LaLiga side.

After Argentina’s 2‑0 victory over Austria in the ongoing World Cup, Álvarez announced that he had told Atlético Madrid he wanted to leave coach Diego Simeone’s team.

Regarding the situation, Agüero said: “The club will not comment on anything, and the player must be honest.”

He mentioned that he has met with the club and that both sides agree a transfer is the best solution.

“If I were the club and a player was unhappy—whether in the city or for any other reason such as dissatisfaction with teammates or the coach—and felt uncomfortable, the best approach is to find a solution and sell him.”
