President Bola Ahmed Tinubu praised the outcome of the 10th France‑Nigeria Business Council Meeting, which took place during the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya. He noted that both nations are now concentrating on the implementation of business agreements and investment initiatives.
The information was released in a State House statement posted on May 12, 2026 on the official page of Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The release highlighted that trade between Nigeria and France amounted to $4.7 billion in 2025, with Nigeria remaining the top destination for French investment in sub‑Saharan Africa.
Attendees included Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, France’s Minister Delegate, Nicolas Forissier, and senior business leaders from both countries.
President Tinubu commended France‑Nigeria Business Council Chairman Aigboje Aig Imoukhuede for organizing the meeting, which gathered leading private‑sector participants from Nigeria and France.
The statement also cited the involvement of prominent entrepreneurs such as Aliko Dangote, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Tony Elumelu and Wale Tinubu, together with representatives from companies including TotalEnergies, CMA CGM, Danone and Accor.
Tinubu especially welcomed the agreement signed between Accor and Shoreline Group, describing it as Nigeria’s first national hotel platform.
“This is the partnership Nigeria is ready for. We are ready for investment that builds, capital that produces, and enterprise that creates jobs,” the President said.
He added that his administration would persist in efforts to improve the business environment, support investors and reinforce economic reforms.
