Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Law Lawal, has said that President Bola Tinubu would ultimately serve as a better Nigerian president than the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Law Lawal warned that Atiku’s potential presidency would harm Nigeria and asserted that Tinubu would perform better if he were reelected in 2027.
In a signed statement, the former SGF explained that his personal convictions would not allow him to support what he described as “the evil that Atiku and his people represent.”
“I believe Tinubu might, comparatively speaking, end up a better Nigerian president than Atiku could ever be,” he said.
He criticized northern political leaders, accusing them of backing Atiku despite what he called widespread poverty and insecurity in the region.
Law Lawal questioned the logic of supporting a northern presidential candidate when the area should seek leadership capable of reversing its economic and security challenges.
“I would have thought that when Northerners insist on a northern president, they would be thinking of one that will stop the downward spiral into poverty and insecurity, not an ineptocrat like Atiku,” he said.
Law Lawal said he would spend the coming weeks consulting with political associates on strategies to prevent Atiku from securing the presidency in 2027.
“I will be tweaking my plans for the future and consulting with like‑minded colleagues on how to stop this incompetent octogenarian from coming close to the presidential office,” he said.
