‘The ruling party doesn’t want anyone on the ballot’ — ADC Support Group

A support group of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the Grassroots Mobilization Network (GMN), has voiced concerns about ongoing legal disputes involving the party and called on the judiciary to ensure fairness and due process.

On Saturday in Abuja, the group’s spokesperson, Peter Emeka, urged all stakeholders to safeguard democratic institutions and maintain confidence in the electoral process.

“The ruling party doesn’t want anyone on the ballot,” Emeka said, and appealed to the courts to remain impartial in handling political cases.

He urged judicial officers dealing with political matters to act in accordance with the law and in ways that strengthen public trust in the judiciary.

Emeka noted that court decisions on politically sensitive issues attract public scrutiny and should be guided by principles of justice, fairness, and constitutional order.

He also argued that disputes over party leadership and internal affairs should be resolved in line with existing legal precedents and established judicial pronouncements.

Emeka highlighted that the legal proceedings involving the ADC and Nafiu Bala have drawn significant interest from party members and political observers.

The ADC and Nafiu Bala are embroiled in a leadership dispute, with several cases filed in different courts.

One of the matters is expected to be heard in the coming days.
