Super Eagles Midfielder Engages Fiancee Chidera

Super Eagles midfielder Kelechi Nwakali announced his engagement to his long‑time fiancée, Chidera.

The former Golden Eaglets captain revealed the news by posting intimate photos of the proposal on his social media accounts.

In one of the images, Chidera is shown wearing an engagement ring as the couple posed together after the proposal.

Nwakali began his football journey at Diamond Football Academy in Umuahia before gaining international recognition as captain of Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets team that won the FIFA U‑17 World Cup in Chile in 2015.

He was named the tournament’s most valuable player. After the tournament, he joined English club Arsenal and later had loan spells in the Netherlands before moving to clubs in Portugal and Spain.

The midfielder has also represented Nigeria at various levels, including the U‑17, U‑20, and U‑23 teams, before earning caps for the Super Eagles.

Nwakali’s stint at Barnsley F.C. has been marked by a mix of on‑pitch brilliance and off‑field disciplinary problems.

After signing a three‑year deal, the former Arsenal and Super Eagles prospect struggled with fitness and consistency.

Following a series of disciplinary issues and a delayed return from his postseason holiday, he was removed from the squad and placed on the transfer list.
