Slavia Prague Confirm Ogbu Undergoes Successful Surgery

Slavia Prague announced that Igoh Ogbu has successfully undergone surgery after an injury sustained while on international duty with Nigeria, Completesports.com reports.

The defender ruptured his Achilles tendon during a training session in preparation for the Super Eagles’ friendly against Portugal.

Ogbu appeared in Nigeria’s two Unity Cup matches against Zimbabwe and Jamaica.

The 26‑year‑old also started the Super Eagles’ 2‑2 friendly draw with Poland but was substituted at half‑time by Semi Ajayi.

The centre‑back featured in Nigeria’s two Unity Cup games against Zimbabwe and Jamaica.

The 26‑year‑old also started the 2‑2 friendly draw against Poland, before he was replaced at half‑time by Semi Ajayi.

Ogbu Ruled Out For Three Months

Slavia Prague confirmed that Ogbu will be sidelined for about three months.

“During the international break, Igoh Ogbu ruptured his Achilles tendon. In recent days, he underwent surgery at the Central Military Hospital in Střesovice, and the operation was successful,” a statement on the club’s official website read.

“The Slavia defender will be out of training for approximately three months.
Get well soon, you’ll come back stronger, Igy.”
