Sani Abacha’s son loses in Kano PDP governorship race

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced Alhaji Muhammad Bello Dalhat as the winner of its governorship primary in Kano State, after defeating fellow aspirant Alhaji Muhammad Sani Abacha, the son of former Head of State Sani Abacha.

Hon. Umar Danjani Hadejia, the chairman of the election committee appointed by the PDP national leadership, reported that Bello Dalhat received 2,233 votes, securing the victory.

Abacha received 749 votes in the primary.

“With the total votes recorded, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Dalhat scored the highest number of votes and is hereby declared winner and the PDP governorship candidate for Kano State,” the statement read.

The primary comes as political parties ramp up preparations for the 2027 general elections nationwide.
