Sandy Onor Wins PDP Presidential Primary in Abia, Receives 25,197 Votes

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has selected Professor Sandy Onor as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

Professor Onor, who ran as the PDP’s governorship candidate in Cross River State in 2023, received a total of 25,197 votes to win the Abia presidential primary.

The candidate was chosen through a consensus voting process that took place across the state’s 17 local government areas.

During the results announcement, PDP Returning Officer Emmanuel Ukpong read the vote tallies from each LGA and declared Professor Sandy Onor the winner.

"Professor Sandy Onor is our sole candidate in Abia, and we have decided to do a consensus in Abia," said Returning Officer Ukpong.

Abia State PDP Chairman Abraham Amah, in his remarks, commended the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies for maintaining a peaceful environment during the primary.
