Ronaldo Scores Twice, Sets World Cup Record as Portugal Beat Uzbekistan 5-0

Cristiano Ronaldo netted two goals as Portugal secured a commanding 5‑0 win against Uzbekistan on Tuesday, reaffirming their World Cup credentials.

Ronaldo has become the first player to score in six distinct World Cups and is now Portugal’s all‑time leading scorer in the tournament, with 10 goals, surpassing the late Eusebio by one.

Portugal’s campaign had begun poorly after a 1‑1 draw with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In their second group match, a different Portugal squad saw Ronaldo score the opening goal in the sixth minute, followed by Nuno Mendes extending the lead at 17 minutes.

Ronaldo added a second goal in the 39th minute, making the score 3‑0.

An own goal from Abduvakhid Nematov increased Portugal’s advantage to 4‑0 at the hour mark, and Rafael Leao later sealed the victory with a fifth goal.

The win lifted Portugal to the top of Group K with four points, while Uzbekistan remained bottom with zero points after two games.
