Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar Reportedly Killed by Bandits

Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, former Director of Defence Information, is reported to have been killed while in captivity after being abducted by bandits in Katsina State.

Dr. Nasir Mu’azu Danmusa, the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the news on Saturday.

Danmusa said, “security authorities had received information indicating that the retired military officer was killed by his abductors.”

He added that security operatives have not yet recovered his body, and efforts are ongoing to locate the remains.

Abubakar and his wife were seized by armed bandits along the Matazu axis on May 30 while traveling through the area.

The abduction sparked widespread concern, with the Katsina State Government and security agencies previously expressing optimism that he would be rescued alive.
