Nollywood actress and producer Sandra Okunzuwa has stated that YouTube filmmakers offer higher compensation to actors than traditional cinema producers.
In a recent episode of the BTS Reality podcast, Okunzuwa argued that the period of low pay for Nollywood actors, particularly on YouTube, has ended.
She revealed that certain Nollywood actors can earn up to N5 million for a four‑day shoot on a YouTube project.
“Nollywood actors are now very expensive. When people say they don’t pay actors well, that may have been true when it was just cinema, Netflix and other platforms. But now, actors on YouTube are paid highly. Some of them charge N4 million to N5 million for a four‑day shoot,” she said.
“YouTube pays actors better than cinema movies,” Okunzuwa added.
