Probe continues as Dunamis Church denies ownership of road‑landed aircraft

Faith‑based group Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) has refuted a report that the private aircraft with registration number N989BC, which landed on a road in Ogwashi‑Uku, Delta State, belongs to Dunamis International Gospel Centre.

In a statement issued on Friday, CCYF said the church has consistently maintained that it does not own a private aircraft, although it has the capacity to acquire one for gospel outreach if required.

A source within the church added, “The church has never announced ownership of any aircraft. It is a lie. It is not registered in the name of Dunamis. Members donate to him to use when he wants to go for a special crusade. It is not owned by the church.”

James Adama, convener of the group, said: “We further state clearly and unequivocally that the assertion is a fabrication and underscores the reckless misinformation being deliberately spread to mislead the public. Spreading false information that harms the reputation of individuals, organisations, or institutions can constitute offences under Nigerian law. This disclaimer serves as formal notice to the general public to discard the said publication as false, fallacious and malicious.”

“Therefore, we urge media outlets, bloggers and individuals to verify information from official sources before publication to avoid legal consequences. The church reserves the right to pursue all available legal remedies against those who knowingly disseminate false information intended to cause reputational harm.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) obtained the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR) from the aircraft on Thursday.

NSIB said its activities are ongoing and will include analysis of the recovered flight recorders, examination of technical and operational records, and interviews. Experts in the air transport sector have called for restraint in speculation until the investigation is complete.
