Police arrest suspected kidnapper and recover stolen exhibits in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command announced that it has detained a suspected kidnapper.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, on Thursday.

Ayanlade said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday after reliable information was received from members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN).

The individual, identified as Mohammad Goni, was taken into custody in connection with a recent kidnapping operation.

The statement also noted that police are pursuing the suspect’s accomplices, who remain at large.

During the operation, the suspects fled into a nearby forest, sustaining varying degrees of gunshot injuries. One suspect, Mohammed Sanni “M”, was captured. A motorcycle registered TUT 824 TY, believed to have been used for the gang’s logistics, was also seized.

Other items recovered include a small mobile phone, a pair of slippers, and a cap. All items are currently undergoing forensic examination.

The suspect is in custody and has provided confessional statements about his role and involvement in the criminal syndicate, the statement added.
