Podium collapses during Adeleke canvassers’ inauguration in Osun, causing panic.

On Saturday, a sudden panic erupted at the headquarters of Oriade Local Government Area in Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State, when a podium collapsed during the inauguration of vote canvassers for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re‑election campaign.

The ceremony, which started around noon, was attended by Governor Adeleke, his elder sister Modupe Adeleke‑Sanni, and several other dignitaries. It was organized by Mr. Pelumi Olajengbesi.

During the program, the governor was called to the stage to thank supporters. As he rose, other dignitaries joined him, adding weight to an already crowded podium that eventually gave way and fell.

The collapse caused confusion among attendees, and some party members briefly worried about the governor’s safety. No fatalities were reported.

Several members and officials of the Accord Party sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Following the collapse, the program was brought to an early close.
