Sunday Garba Biggs, the 2027 governorship candidate for the Tanimu Turaki faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, has publicly criticized Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his performance over the past three years.
Biggs, a retired permanent secretary of the state civil service, made the remarks on the governor’s third‑anniversary celebration. He said Mutfwang has not delivered the leadership that Plateau residents expected and that the governor does not deserve a second term in 2027.
In a statement released by his media team, Biggs—who is also from Mangu Local Government Area, the same hometown as Mutfwang—acknowledged their kinship but insisted he would not hesitate to point out the governor’s shortcomings. He noted that the state needs stronger leadership to tackle insecurity, economic hardship and underdevelopment, and that many residents are now dissatisfied with the administration.
“The people of Plateau State were joyful when they elected him as governor,” Biggs said. “Yes, he is my kinsman, but what is his performance in office? The reality on the ground shows that the people are not happy with his performance.”
He added, “Plateau is bigger than any individual. Leadership is about responsibility, not sentiment or personal attachment.”
Biggs emphasized that no political office holder should remain in power without delivering results, regardless of their background. He also criticized the lack of visible development in Mangu LGA, despite it being the governor’s home area, and called for a future leader from the region who demonstrates competence and capacity rather than relying on ethnic or political sentiments.
“This is not about kinship. It is about the pedigree and capacity of the individual to perform,” he stressed.
