Dr. Abayomi Arabambi, the Labour Party’s National Vice Chairman for the South West, stated that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi’s switch to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is not the end of his political journey.
Arabambi made the comments during an interview on Arise Television, where he discussed Obi’s emergence as the NDC’s presidential flag bearer for the upcoming general elections.
“Peter Obi’s move to the NDC is not his final destination,” he said. “If he believes he has found a safe haven after destabilising the Labour Party, he may soon face serious political pushback from those still within the party structure.”
“He cannot weaken a platform and simply move on without consequences, as internal political realities will eventually catch up with him,” Arabambi continued. “Ultimately, the political space is competitive, and no one can impose themselves without broad acceptance.”
“However, the final decision rests with Nigerians, and no candidate can become president without addressing issues of governance, accountability, and the fight against corruption,” he added.
