Former Labour Party vice‑presidential candidate Datti Baba Ahmed cautioned critics not to create friction between himself and the Nigerian Democratic Congress’s 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Ahmed made the comments during a Sunday interview with Channels TV, where he addressed accusations that he could not secure victories in his ward and local government in the 2023 elections.
He noted that Obi, who was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, remains on his list of respected politicians.
According to Ahmed, although the two have since joined different parties, they continue to hold mutual respect for one another.
“Nobody will cause a problem between me and my boss, Peter Obi. We can be in different parties today but I still have respect for him as someone who governed and someone who doesn’t give shishi,” he said.
“Peter Obi and I have mutual respect for each other, so nobody will come between us.”
