The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has created appeal panels to review petitions and complaints that have arisen from its recent primaries for presidential, governorship, National Assembly, and state legislative seats.

The party said the panels were set up to reinforce transparency, fairness, and internal democratic procedures in the candidate selection process.

In a statement released on Thursday, PDP National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Mohammed explained that the committees will examine complaints filed by aspirants and stakeholders who are unhappy with the primary outcomes.

Mohammed added that the panels will assess all appeals and issue recommendations in accordance with the party’s constitution, electoral guidelines, and applicable legal provisions.

“The appeal panels will hear and review appeals from contestants and stakeholders who are dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries. They will also make recommendations in line with the party’s Constitution, Electoral Guidelines and relevant provisions of the law,” he said.

He noted that the move demonstrates the PDP’s commitment to ensuring a credible and transparent candidate‑selection process ahead of forthcoming elections.

Mohammed revealed that National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed will chair the panel that will handle governorship and presidential primary disputes, with former National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu among its members.

The spokesman also announced that Suleiman Afolagbe will preside over the panel dealing with appeals related to state assembly and National Assembly primaries.

The nine‑member panel for legislative primaries is scheduled to convene on June 8 and June 9 at the National Working Committee Hall, located at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The 24‑member governorship and presidential appeals panel is set to begin its sittings on June 10 at the same venue.
