In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, the 30 local governments in Osun State that are governed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) have begun empowering 180,000 residents of the state.

Each beneficiary will receive 50,000 naira, bringing the total disbursement to nine billion naira. The funds are intended to strengthen the livelihoods of people at the grassroots level.

The program is scheduled to run for four quarters this year. Two quarters have already been completed, and 90,000 beneficiaries have received a total of 4.5 billion naira across the 332 wards in the state.

Speaking about the initiative, which has already sparked positive reactions among residents, the State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Oluomo Sunday Akere, praised the local government chairmen for aligning with President Tinubu’s vision of purposeful leadership and improving the lives of the downtrodden.

Akere, a former state commissioner, described the program as a people‑focused effort that can raise living standards for many in the state.

He added that empowering about 200,000 people with a total of nine billion naira would ultimately benefit the state’s economy and its citizens.

“It is encouraging to see this empowerment program, launched by our local government chairmen for 180,000 people—especially artisans, farmers, and other grassroots groups—having a positive impact on the state economy,” he said.

“With fifty thousand naira given to each beneficiary, nine billion naira will be directly injected into their enterprises at the end,” Akere continued.

The coordinator emphasized that such investments would create a ripple effect, boosting businesses and ventures of the disadvantaged.

“We are pleased that our elected local government officials across the state, all of whom are APC members, are setting an example of how the state should be governed to benefit grassroots communities,” he said.

“This is one reason we firmly believe the state and its people will thrive if the APC wins the upcoming governorship election and President Tinubu is re‑elected next year,” Akere added.

He urged the chairmen to persist in their pursuit of purposeful leadership that ensures good governance, and called on the public to continue supporting the APC.

“Our leaders, stakeholders, and party members must keep galvanizing the people to build a strong support base for the APC in the forthcoming elections,” Akere urged.

“Only through our success can the population continue to benefit from our ambitious programs. We must never relent in doing what is necessary,” he admonished.

Meanwhile, he assured that many people‑centred programmes will continue to mitigate the negative effects of the economy and will always be implemented for the benefit of the people.
