Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2026 off‑cycle governorship election in Osun State, has alleged that opposition actors are masquerading as the party by painting vehicles in APC colours to carry out criminal acts and damage his reputation.

He made the claim on Friday after attending the Friday prayer with Muslim worshippers at the Mallam Tope Central Mosque in Osogbo, where he also spoke to journalists.

Oyebamiji said that reports of vehicles bearing his campaign branding being used for criminal acts were the work of determined political rivals intent on discrediting him and eroding his rising support in the state.

He insisted that neither he nor his campaign team is linked to criminality, emphasizing that he has always handled his personal, professional, and political matters with integrity and respect for the law.

“I have always lived as a law‑abiding citizen and I will never depart from that path. Our campaign is founded on peace, decency and issue‑based engagement, and we will continue to pursue our democratic aspirations without intimidation or resorting to unlawful acts,” he said.

Responding to the alleged impersonation, Oyebamiji said: “I also used the opportunity to address the disturbing reports of mischief by desperate elements who are branding vehicles with my campaign materials to perpetrate criminal acts and tarnish my name.”

I urge security agencies and the good people of Osun to stay vigilant and not be fooled by those who rely solely on deception and fear. Our campaign is founded on peace, decency, and issue‑based engagement, and we will not be sidetracked by attempts to defame us.

He urged residents to ignore any attempts to associate his campaign with criminal activity, insisting that his ambition is motivated by a desire to deliver purposeful leadership and responsible governance for Osun.

During the Friday service, Oyebamiji thanked Almighty Allah for His mercy and prayed for divine guidance for Osun State. He also thanked the Muslim congregation for their warm reception and prayers in support of his aspirations.

The governorship aspirant asked for ongoing prayers and support from the people, assuring them of his commitment to restoring purposeful leadership, fostering unity, and delivering good governance that benefits all residents of the state.

“With the support and prayers of our people, and by the grace of God, we will build an Osun where peace, security, prosperity and justice prevail for everyone,” he added.
