Organizers Publish Schedule for the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championship

The organisers of the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championship have published the official competition schedule.

The event, which will gather Africa’s top track‑and‑field athletes, is set to take place at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium from Tuesday 12 May through Sunday 17 May.

On the opening day, the men’s decathlon will commence, accompanied by heats for the men’s and women’s 100 m, 400 m and 400 m hurdles. The day will conclude with the mixed 4×400 m relay heats.

Day two will feature the men’s and women’s 100 m finals as the headline events, together with the women’s hammer throw and the mixed 4×400 m relay final.

Day three is expected to bring additional excitement, offering finals in the women’s 400 m, men’s discus, men’s 800 m and women’s long jump. The women’s and men’s 4×100 m relay heats will also be contested on the same day.

Friday, designated as day four, will host the women’s 10 000 m final and the highly anticipated 4×100 m relay finals.

Day five will include the 20 km race‑walk events, the men’s triple jump final, and the semi‑finals of both the men’s and women’s 200 m races.

The championship will conclude on Sunday with the men’s and women’s 200 m finals, the men’s 5 000 m final, the women’s 4×400 m relay final and the men’s 4×400 m relay final.
