Ogbomoso residents urge Makinde to address frequent road accidents (photos)

Residents of Odo‑Alamo in Ogbomoso have appealed to the Oyo State Government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, to protect them from ongoing road accidents.

They said the deteriorated condition of the community’s access road has caused numerous accidents.

They called on the state government for assistance.

The residents added that the access road has become severely dilapidated and a “death trap.”

The statements were made on Tuesday following a single incident in which a car plunged into a ditch near the bridge over the Alamo Stream.

Community leader Mr Mathew Ogunkanmi, speaking for the residents, said:

“The road has become dilapidated; it has become a death trap.”

A resident expressed frustration that successive administrations have ignored the community.

He appealed to Governor Makinde for help.

Ogunkanmi continued, “We have made several appeals to successive council chairmen. Former chairmen such as Alhaji Ibrahim Toskay, Alhaji Kabir Ayoade and even the present chairman, Hon. George Ogunlade, all came, but nothing has been done.

“And it is sadder that the road is not among those being rehabilitated in Ogbomoso presently. Only Governor Makinde can help us now.”
