The two‑week international event drew junior players from 14 countries, including Nigeria, Cameroon, China, Great Britain, Canada, Sri Lanka, Liberia, Lithuania, India, Togo, Benin Republic, the United States, Sweden and France, further cementing Nigeria’s reputation as a destination for international tennis competitions.

Ochei singled out the National Sports Commission, headed by Chairman and Director‑General, for its steadfast support of tennis development in Nigeria.

The NTF President said that the championship’s success reflects the federation’s commitment to grassroots development and to providing young players with international exposure and valuable ranking points.

The tournament featured exciting matches across all categories, with Nigerian players making strong impacts against tough international opposition.

In the Week One Boys’ Singles event, China’s Cui Hengzhi won the title after defeating Nigeria’s Seyi Ogunsakin in the final. In the Girls’ Singles, Nigerian Success Ogunjobi beat compatriot Khadijat Mohammed to claim the championship.

The Boys’ Doubles title was won by the United States’ Elliott Awomoyi and Nigeria’s Seyi Ogunsakin, who overcame the Nigerian pair of Elisha Kwange and Gbolahan Olawale in the final.

In Girls’ Doubles, France’s Jessica Togbe and Nigeria’s Khadijat Mohammed captured the title by defeating Nigeria’s Success Ogunjobi and Sri Lanka’s Rashmi Omaya Wijewardana in the final.

He reaffirmed the federation’s determination to sustain its developmental programmes and to host additional international competitions that nurture future champions, positioning Nigeria as a leading tennis nation in Africa.
