The Allied Independent Campaign Council (AICC), a support group for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has announced a plan to secure widespread grassroots backing for its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 election.
The AICC stated that it is working to ensure that results from polling units are accurately reflected in the final figures announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 2027 General election.
To mobilise support and strengthen the party’s presence in rural areas, the AICC has established structures in all 774 Local Government Areas.
Speaking to THISDAY on a weekend in Abuja shortly after the inauguration of the AICC Chapter in Bwari Area Council, branch coordinator Mr. James Igbana said the group would educate people on the party’s agenda and rally support for the presidential candidate and other NDC candidates contesting National Assembly seats in the Federal Capital Territory.
Igbana said: “We are carefully constructing a formidable movement that will present a strong front in the quest to legitimately address the current cluelessness afflicting leadership in our country, and to establish a new order that offers Nigeria and its citizens a fresh air of good governance.”
“A new order that seeks to empower the marginalised, uplift the underprivileged, and create opportunities for all. Interestingly, our party’s strength lies in us, to take over the governance of this great country in 2027.”
Addressing members of the newly inaugurated AICC executives for the Bwari Area Council, Igbana said, “Your role is unambiguous. You will embody the commitment that will drive our party’s agenda, mobilise support through viable campaign strategies, and ensure that our message resonates in every corner of our country.”
“We are already equipped to tackle the enemies of good governance in our lovely country. Head on, let’s collaborate, support each other, and drive our movement—and by extension, the party—to a variable glorious height.”
Igbana added that AICC members would continually reach out to unreached communities and “build a structure that’s unwavering, uncompromising, inclusive, transparent, and accountable.”
“The time to take back our country and put it in the league of successful nations in the world,” he said.
