Nwosu praises Wike for Abuja infrastructure development

ABUJA — Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, former Chief of Staff to a former Imo State governor, praised Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike for the notable progress in Abuja’s infrastructure.

During a conversation with reporters in the capital, Nwosu observed that residents and visitors can readily see the effects of the projects underway under Wike’s administration.

He highlighted the Minister’s strong leadership in delivering key infrastructure, including major roads, bridges and public facilities.

“I have lived in Abuja for over 25 years and I know what many of these roads looked like before now,” Nwosu said.

He cited works such as Apo Road, Maitama Bridge, Jahi Bridge, the Jahi–Gwarimpa Interchange, the Airport Expressway–Kuje Road, the Kuje–Gwagwalada Road, the main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), and adjoining road networks in Katampe District as evidence of purposeful governance.

According to him, one of the primary responsibilities of government is to provide infrastructure and deliver the dividends of democracy to citizens, adding that the FCT Minister has distinguished himself in that regard.

Nwosu also commended the construction of judges’ quarters, describing the project as a significant step toward improving the welfare and working conditions of judicial officers.

“Every journey begins with a step. The important thing is that development is taking place, and I believe similar interventions will extend to other government institutions and agencies,” he said.

The former Imo governorship candidate stressed the need for Nigeria’s capital city to meet global standards, arguing that Abuja should compare favourably with leading capitals around the world.

He said sustained investments in infrastructure, security and environmental sanitation were essential to enhancing Nigeria’s image and improving the experience of residents and visitors.

Nwosu maintained that the ongoing transformation of Abuja under Wike’s leadership deserves recognition, describing the minister’s performance as one of the most impactful in the history of the Federal Capital Territory.
