NWFL Playoff: Why Rivers Angels Fell to Abia Angels – Blankson

Rivers Angels head coach Tosan Blankson said his team’s loss to Abia Angels was due to missed opportunities.

Abia Angels beat Rivers Angels 1‑0 in a second‑match fixture of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Monday.

The only goal came from a header by Abia’s David in the 26th minute.

Blankson expressed disappointment with the result.

“Sometimes football is cruel, the girls failed to deliver despite their efforts,” Blankson said in a post‑match interview.

“It’s a bad day for us as the strikers had enough chances but they couldn’t deliver.”

Rivers Angels sit fourth on the playoff table, having earned three points from two matches.
