The Nigeria Police Force has detained three officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals Unit in connection with the death of their senior colleague, Agada Levi Agada, during a mission in Nasarawa State.

According to a police statement, the Force Intelligence Department (FID) launched an investigation into Agada’s death after receiving a petition from the lawyer representing his family.

The officers arrested are Simeon Yakubu Anyebe, Ibrahim Ayefu, and Iwodi Obochi.

Agada was reportedly shot while on duty during an operation at Rafin Gabas in the Agwada area of Nasarawa State.

Police also revealed that investigators traced more than N2 billion to a bank account belonging to an NSCDC Mining Marshal. Efforts are continuing to determine the nature of the transactions and any connections to other suspects.

Several Mining Marshal personnel were invited for questioning but did not comply with the invitations.

“We traced over N2 billion into the Zenith Bank account of Sergeant Labaran, account number 1008392780; and we have been able to trace the transfer and receipt of such clandestine monies from his account to and from the accounts of some of the other suspects,” the police said.
