Nigerian Exchange Limited data showed that market capitalisation fell by 0.50 percent, dropping to N155.203 trillion from N155.985 trillion recorded in the previous session.
The All‑Share Index also declined by 1,219.93 points, or 0.50 percent, closing at 241,984.80 compared with 243,204.73 in the prior session.
The market’s year‑to‑date (YtD) return eased to 55.50 percent, while market breadth finished negative with 37 losers and 20 gainers.
Vitafoam and International Energy Insurance led the losers’ chart, each falling 10 percent to close at N189 and N5.76 per share respectively.
Austinlaz dropped 9.93 percent, ending the session at N3.90; Sunu Assurances fell 9.82 percent, finishing at N3.58; and Sovereign Trust Insurance depreciated 8.37 percent, closing at N2.30 per share.
On the upside, Conoil and Prestige Assurance each rose 9.79 percent, settling at N213 and N1.57 per share respectively, followed by Neimeth Pharmaceuticals and Cornerstone Insurance.
Market activity fell, with total traded volume down 28.11 percent to 535.53 million shares valued at N36.84 billion across 55,123 deals.
Sterling Nigeria was the most heavily traded stock by volume, with 100.90 million shares exchanged, representing 18.84 percent of the day’s total volume.
UAC of Nigeria led in value terms, recording transactions worth N9.12 billion, which accounted for 24.74 percent of the total value traded during the session.
Daily Post reports that Tuesday’s decline in stock trading marks the third consecutive depreciation since last Friday.
