Nigerian Naira Weakens Ahead of Sallah Holidays, Dollar Exchange Rate on May 26, 2026

The Naira weakened against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Tuesday in anticipation of the Eid‑ul‑Adha holidays.

According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Naira fell to N1,375.41 per dollar on Tuesday, compared with N1,374.92 on Monday.

That represents a daily decline of N0.48 against the dollar.

At the black market, the Naira held steady at N1,395 per dollar on Tuesday, the same rate as on Monday.

Daily Post reports that the Nigerian currency had appreciated on both official and black markets on Monday, giving a positive start to the week.

This development comes as the country’s external reserves increased to $49.26 billion as of May 25, 2026.
