Troops of Operation Savannah Shield arrested ten suspected informants and collaborators of terrorist groups during a combat patrol in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The operation was announced in a post on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter‑insurgency and security expert who works in the Lake Chad region.

Makama said the patrol began at about 10:05 a.m. on June 11, with soldiers from the Combined Intervention Strike Brigade XVI operating out of Forward Operating Base Audu Fari.

During the mission, the troops moved through several communities, including Tungan Yaboye, Kumble, Sabon Gari, Dogon Ruwa, Lambu, Tungan Isah, Rafi Maigudu, Swashi, Guffanti, Kwanan Demu Junction, Papiri and Gallah.

According to Makama, the patrol’s goal was to flush out suspected terrorist elements and dismantle their support networks, which led to the clearance of suspected hideouts in the area.

The security expert added that the operation did not involve direct contact with armed terrorist groups, but resulted in the apprehension of ten suspected informants and collaborators.

“The suspects are currently in custody for further interrogation and subsequent action,” he said.

“Military authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to sustained clearance operations and intelligence‑driven patrols to deny terrorists freedom of movement and logistical support in Niger State and adjoining areas,” he added.
