Nigeria and U.S. Joint Operations Kill More Than 200 Terrorists in Northeast Nigeria

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) announced that joint counter‑terrorism operations carried out by the Nigerian military together with the United States Africa Command (US AFRICOM) have killed more than 200 terrorists in the North‑East.

Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, said the coordinated offensive also eliminated several high‑value terrorist commanders who had been active across the region.

DHQ officials explained that the operations combined intelligence sharing, surveillance support and precision military strikes designed to dismantle terrorist networks and degrade their operational capabilities.

Uba noted that the partnership between the two forces has significantly disrupted insurgent activity in the area. He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to continue the offensive against terrorism and to restore lasting security for affected communities.

The statement comes as military operations against insurgent elements in the North‑East intensify, a region that has suffered from terrorism and armed violence for more than a decade.
