Nigeria allows Rwandans 30‑day visa‑free entry under a reciprocal agreement.

Nigerian citizens traveling to Rwanda will no longer need a visa, as Nigeria has activated a reciprocal 30‑day visa‑exemption arrangement for Rwandan nationals. The move follows a presidential announcement made at a continental business summit.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) announced on Friday that it has completed all preparations to enforce the directive issued by President Bola Tinubu at the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali. At that event, Tinubu granted Rwandan citizens visa‑free entry into Nigeria, mirroring a similar concession already extended to Nigerians by the Rwandan government.

Under the bilateral agreement, Rwandan nationals may enter Nigeria without a visa for up to 30 days for lawful purposes, including tourism, business and official engagements. Those who wish to stay longer must obtain the appropriate visa through a Nigerian embassy or high commission abroad, or via the Nigeria e‑Visa platform.

The Immigration Service has instructed all international entry points—airports, land borders and seaports—to begin implementing the policy immediately, in accordance with the presidential directive.

DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, a spokesperson for the NIS, said the initiative reflects the deepening ties between Abuja and Kigali, and promotes “intra‑African mobility, tourism, and economic cooperation in line with continental aspirations.”

Akinlabi added that the Service “remains committed to facilitating safe, orderly, and lawful migration in accordance with international best practices and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
