Neymar back in training with Brazil at World Cup

Brazil forward Neymar, who was diagnosed with a right calf injury in late May, returned to training at the World Cup on Tuesday, suggesting he may be close to a full comeback.

The 34‑year‑old has been receiving treatment since the squad arrived in the United States, and he made another step forward by running during a session at Brazil’s training base in New Jersey.

Despite his return to the training ground, Neymar has not yet rejoined the squad for full training after missing the team’s opening 1‑1 draw against Morocco on Saturday.

Neymar has been a key figure in Brazil’s last three World Cup campaigns, but his inclusion this year was unexpected, as injuries have kept him from representing his country since 2023.

He has appeared in only half of his club’s matches in the Brazilian league, the cup, and the Copa Sudamericana this season because of various fitness problems.

Brazil’s next match is against Haiti in Philadelphia on Friday, followed by a final Group C game against Scotland in Miami on June 24.
