Neymar Predicts Two Nations Will Face Off in the 2026 World Cup Final

When asked which opponent he would like to face in the 2026 World Cup final, Brazilian star Neymar ruled out Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, and Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Brazil has one group‑stage match left, against Scotland, after recording a win and a draw.

Neymar was selected for Brazil’s squad after a more than two‑year absence caused by an ACL injury sustained in October 2023.

He has not yet appeared in a match for the Seleção, missing the first two group‑stage games because of another injury.

He returned to training last week and could feature in the upcoming match against Scotland on June 24.

During a conversation on Puma Football’s social media platform, Neymar was asked which team he would like to face in the final.

The Brazilian chose to bypass both Argentina and Portugal, saying, “Spain. Brazil-Spain.”

Spain remains a potential title‑contender, as do Argentina and Portugal.

Lionel Messi has been prolific, scoring five goals in two matches for Argentina, who have already secured a place in the Round of 32.

All of Argentina’s goals have come from Messi, who has also become the competition’s all‑time leading scorer with 18 goals.

Portugal began with a draw and has yet to find its rhythm; Ronaldo has not scored in the tournament. They will face Uzbekistan on June 23 in their second group‑stage match.
