New Chelsea manager Alonso outlines three priorities at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea’s new manager, Xabi Alonso, has outlined three key priorities for his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

In an interview with the club’s website, Alonso said he will focus on “hard work, the right culture and winning trophies.”

The appointment followed Chelsea’s loss in the FA Cup final to Manchester City on Saturday evening at Wembley Stadium.

The 44‑year‑old will assume the role on 1 July 2026, after agreeing a four‑year contract with the Premier League club in west London.

“There is great talent in the Chelsea squad, and it’ll be my great honour to lead it,” Alonso, a former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen star, said, according to the club’s website. “Now my focus is on hard work, the right culture and winning trophies.”
