NDC offers discounted nomination forms for women, youths, and people with disabilities

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has reiterated its pledge to fully involve women, youths, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria’s electoral process and to encourage them to run for office in the 2027 general elections.

According to the party, this initiative aligns with its promise to include every Nigerian—both domestically and in the diaspora—in the democratic journey.

A statement signed by the NDC’s National Secretary, Barr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, read: “The fact that someone is young, may not have significant financial resources, or faces physical disabilities should not prevent them from contributing to nation‑building.”

Mr. Enekweizu added that “women, due to cultural and other barriers, have historically received the short end of the democratic stick. They therefore need affirmative action to give them the necessary push to participate and contest.”

He argued that excluding roughly half of the population—represented by women—would be a shortfall for Nigeria’s democracy.

In line with this, the NDC confirmed that all female candidates on its platform will pay only 50 % of the advertised costs for both the Expression of Interest Forms and the Nomination Forms, which are currently available for purchase.

Similarly, candidates aged 18 to 35 will also receive a 50 % discount on the advertised fees, while persons with disabilities will pay only 25 % of the advertised fees.

The statement clarified that Presidential, Governorship, and National Assembly forms must be obtained from the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, whereas State House of Assembly forms are to be collected at the party’s state offices.
