Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate for Oyo State in the 2027 general elections, has stated that the monthly allocation the state receives from the Federation Account is sufficient to drive development across the state.
Adegoke, who also serves as the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, made the comment during a visit to the Oyo federal constituency.
Our correspondent notes that the federal constituency comprises the Atiba, Afijio, Oyo West, and Oyo East local government areas.
Speaking to the gathered crowd, the ADC candidate explained that the monthly funds received by the Oyo State government are adequate to support development initiatives throughout all regions of the state.
Adegoke also said that, if elected governor, he would prioritize granting greater autonomy to local governments. He believes this move would accelerate development across the state.
Additionally, the candidate pledged to strengthen traditional institutions by ensuring they receive their 5 percent allocation when it is due.
He vowed that he would not disappoint the people of the state if elected.
“Local government administration is closer to the people, and if the elected local government executives possess the authority and financial resources to act, the grassroots will be the primary beneficiaries,” Adegoke said.
“The allocation from the Federal Revenue Account to the state is sufficient to facilitate development across all regions of the state,” he added.
