Renowned Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has commented on the link between money, depression, and happiness.

The actor challenged the widespread belief that wealth can eliminate depression, asserting that money does not automatically bring happiness.

Egbuson highlighted that even affluent individuals can experience depression.

He made the remarks while responding to a viral post on X that claimed people suffering from depression would be relieved if they had enough money.

“You’re not depressed, you need 20 million naira,” an X user wrote in the now‑viral post.

In reply, Egbuson said, “It’s not always about money, sha.”

His comment prompted a broader discussion about other causes of depression beyond financial hardship, with many agreeing that money cannot cure depression caused by the loss of a loved one, anxiety, or other natural events.

However, some argued that the primary driver of depression is financial scarcity, suggesting that many people would be free from it if they had the money to resolve their economic problems.
