During a nationwide review of housing projects, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Darma, inspected the Lagos “Renewed Hope City” Project in Ibeju‑Lekki, Lagos State, and reported that the development is 90 percent complete.

The visit aimed to evaluate the progress of the project, which will contain 2,084 housing units and is scheduled for commissioning in October, according to a ministry statement.

Darma explained that the project is being delivered under a Public‑Private Partnership (PPP) between the federal government and private developers, describing the model as a strategic approach to speeding up housing delivery nationwide.

He added that financing from the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) will provide shelter for thousands of Nigerians, calling the intervention a demonstration of the bank’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate.

Expressing satisfaction with the work completed, Darma said the project is close to readiness for offtake. “I have seen more than 80 percent completion. In fact, I can say between 85 and 90 percent because all of the houses already have fittings. Some of them are ready for occupation,” he said.

During the inspection, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of FMBN, Shehu Osidi, reiterated the bank’s commitment to delivering affordable housing solutions and ensuring that completed homes reach their intended beneficiaries.

Osidi urged developers to adopt faster delivery timelines so that beneficiaries can take possession of completed units without unnecessary delays.
