Military delegation visits late Gen. Rabe Abubakar’s family, pledges justice.

A delegation from Defence Headquarters (DHQ) visited the family of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar (retired) and the Katsina State Government on Sunday to offer condolences following the former officer’s death.

The visit was announced on Monday by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

The delegation, headed by Major General IM Abdullahi, Chief of Administration, Army, conveyed the sympathies of the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, and of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).

During the visit to the family’s home in Katsina, Major General Abdullahi described Major General Abubakar as a dedicated and patriotic soldier who served the nation with distinction for more than thirty years. He noted the late general’s significant contributions to the growth of the Nigerian Army and to Nigeria’s security architecture, and assured the family that security agencies would work to bring those responsible for his death to justice.

Major General Abdullahi also presented a national flag to the family in recognition of the late general’s service and sacrifice.

Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, responded on behalf of the family, thanking the CDS and the Armed Forces for their support and solidarity during the period of mourning.

The delegation also visited the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe on behalf of Governor Dikko Radda.

Conveying the condolences of the military leadership, Major General Abdullahi described the late general as one of Katsina State’s distinguished sons whose service to the country will be remembered.

Deputy Governor Jobe said the death of Major General Abubakar was a painful loss to both Katsina State and Nigeria, noting that his commitment to national service will continue to inspire future generations. He called for greater collaboration among stakeholders to tackle insecurity and pledged the state government’s continued support for military operations aimed at restoring peace in the North‑West.

Major General Abdullahi, in turn, commended the Katsina State government for its support of security agencies, stressing that cooperation between the military and the state government remains crucial to achieving lasting peace in the region.

Special prayers were offered at both the family residence and the Government House for the repose of the late officer’s soul.

Members of the delegation included Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General WB Idris; General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General BP Koughna; Rear Admiral AM Haruna; Air Vice Marshal AY Abdullahi; Major General JS Bindawa (retired); Brigadier General SK Usman (retired); and Air Vice Marshal IS Kaita (retired).
