Man Accused of Killing Mother in Cross River Community

CALABAR — A man named Aboyi is accused of killing his mother in Busi Ward, Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Community sources say the incident took place over the weekend and was discovered after residents noticed the woman had not performed her usual early‑morning routine.

Eyewitness Eshebi Godwin reported that the woman was later found dead inside her home, and that the suspect allegedly tried to hide the scene before leaving the house.

Neighbors observed her absence and began asking questions, which raised suspicion. The suspect, who reportedly lived with the deceased, was questioned by community members and allegedly made statements indicating his involvement.

Residents say he was then handed over to security operatives for further investigation.

Community members described the event as shocking and unprecedented in the area.

The Cross River State Police Command had not yet issued an official statement at the time this report was filed.

The body has reportedly been taken to the Obanliku General Hospital mortuary while investigators continue their inquiry.
