Makinde‑backed PDP to vet 112 gubernatorial, 198 senatorial, and 748 House of Representatives aspirants for 2027.

A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), supported by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, will screen a total of 2,122 candidates for the state House of Assembly, 748 candidates for the House of Representatives, 198 candidates for the Senate, and 112 candidates for governorship positions.

The party’s statement, posted on its official Facebook page on Sunday, also indicated that one presidential aspirant will be included in the screening process.

According to the announcement, the nationwide screening will occur on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

The statement further revealed that the Interim National Working Committee (iNWC) has released the names of members who will serve on the Screening Committees and on the Screening Appeal Panels.

It added that the publication of the screening details “is in accordance with the party’s guidelines and timetable for the conduct of the 2027 general elections.”
