Maikaba and Uwejamomere Choose Assistants as U20 Boys Resume Camp on Sunday

Abdu Maikaba, the newly appointed head coach of Nigeria’s U20 men’s national team, has announced his coaching staff as the squad readies for the 2025 WAFU B U20 Boys Championship.

He has named Ortega Deniran as first assistant coach, Abdullahi Biffo as second assistant, and Usman Mohammed as goal‑keepers’ trainer.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the former Flying Eagles assistant coach and former Nigeria Premier League manager, ahead of the squad’s return to camp in Abuja on Sunday, May 17.

The WAFU B U20 Championship, slated for July, will act as the qualifying event for the 2026 Africa U20 Cup of Nations. Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have won the continental tournament seven times.

U17 Golden Eaglets Also Get New Technical Team

In a similar move, the newly appointed U17 head coach, Eboboritse Uwejamomere, has selected his assistants as he starts rebuilding the Golden Eaglets.

His choices are Olumide Joseph Ajibolade as first assistant, Mohammed Kalli Kachala as second assistant, and Abdullahi Isa as goal‑keepers’ trainer.

The U17 squad will contest the WAFU B U17 Boys Championship in September, which also serves as a qualifier for the 2026 Africa U17 Cup of Nations. Nigeria hopes to return to the FIFA U17 World Cup and pursue a record‑setting sixth title.
