Lagos Police Arrest and Charge Man Over Alleged Domestic Violence Assault

The Lagos State Police Command has remanded a suspect, charged with assault occasioning harm and domestic violence, at Kirikiri Correctional Centre after his arrest and prosecution.

The arrest followed a viral video that alleged Emeka Joseph had assaulted Ezeka Chisom.

Police preliminary investigations confirmed that the victim, who had been living with the suspect, suffered facial injuries during the assault.

The suspect has been formally charged in court and is awaiting further proceedings while in custody.

The case has been adjourned until 3 August 2026.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s zero‑tolerance policy toward domestic violence.

He assured the public that cases involving violence and abuse will continue to receive prompt attention and diligent investigation.

The CP also urged residents to promptly report cases of domestic violence and other criminal activities to the nearest police station or police formation.
