La Liga: Valencia narrowly defeat Barcelona after Sadiq is subbed in.

Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq was on the field as Valencia beat Barcelona 3‑1 on the final day of La Liga.

The Nigerian international, who has made 25 appearances, has scored four goals and provided four assists for Valencia this season.

Sadiq entered the match in the 80th minute for Hugo Duro and made a positive impact.

The first half ended goalless, with both sides creating equal chances on a level playing field. The balance shifted in the second half, especially after Barcelona made defensive changes.

After the break, Robert Lewandowski gave the visitors the lead in the 61st minute, silencing the home supporters. In the 66th minute, Guerra equalised for Valencia with a sublime strike, and Rioja extended the lead to 2‑1 in the 71st minute.

The host then took the game beyond Barcelona’s reach when Rodriguez scored in the 97th minute, making it 3‑1.

Despite Barcelona’s efforts to come back, Valencia defended resolutely and secured the maximum three points.

Sadiq joined La Liga club Valencia on a permanent transfer from Real Sociedad, signing a contract until June 2028.

The 28‑year‑old forward, who impressed on loan at Mestalla with six goals in 19 appearances, completed the move in January 2026 to strengthen Valencia’s attack.

Following the announcement, Sadiq said he was elated to join the club, noting that he did everything within his power to make the deal happen.

“I’m very excited and happy. I’ve been waiting since last summer and, finally, I’m here,” Sadiq said.

Sadiq provided a much‑needed attacking boost, scoring and assisting in key matches.
