Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice‑presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has denied online rumors that he plans to stage a protest over the country’s deteriorating security situation.
The clarification was issued in a statement posted on Kwankwaso’s official page.
According to the statement, the circulating message is false and does not reflect his views or those of the NDC.
Kwankwaso said he does not support actions that could lead to a breakdown of public order or the destruction of lives and property.
“We do not support any action that could lead to the breakdown of public order or the destruction of lives and property,” the statement read. “As responsible leaders, we remain committed to peaceful and constructive approaches in addressing national challenges.”
The former governor also reaffirmed his commitment to democratic processes, insisting that elections remain the legitimate means of expressing grievances and seeking political change.
“As committed democrats, we firmly believe that the ballot box remains the most legitimate and effective way to express grievances and seek change,” Kwankwaso said. “Our party, the NDC, is confident of securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections through peaceful democratic means.”
Kwankwaso urged the public to disregard the message and ignore those spreading what he called false information.
