Former Kano State governor and National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice‑presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has denied links between his movement and a rumored protest over Nigeria’s escalating security concerns.

In a statement posted on X on Monday, Kwankwaso dismissed social‑media claims that he and his supporters were planning a nationwide demonstration against rising insecurity.

“Our attention has been drawn to a message currently circulating on social media falsely claiming that we are planning a protest over the rising insecurity in the country,” he said.

He clarified that neither he nor his associates endorse actions that could disrupt public order or jeopardise lives and property.

“We do not support any action that could lead to the breakdown of public order or the destruction of lives and property. As responsible leaders, we remain committed to peaceful and constructive approaches in addressing national challenges,” he added.

Kwankwaso emphasised his commitment to democratic processes, stating that elections remain the most legitimate means for citizens to express grievances and effect change.

“As committed democrats, we firmly believe that the ballot box remains the most legitimate and effective way to express grievances and seek change,” he said.

He expressed confidence in the NDC’s prospects, noting that the party aims to win the upcoming elections through peaceful, democratic means.

“Our party, the NDC, is confident of securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections through peaceful democratic means,” he stated.

Kwankwaso urged the public to ignore the circulating false message and remain cautious of those spreading misinformation.

“The general public is therefore advised to disregard the false message and ignore those peddling such disinformation,” he said.
