Kebbi State — Forces of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have cleared a group of Lakurawa terrorists from the Dogon Daji area in Dandi Local Government Area on June 14, 2026. During the sweep, soldiers seized high‑calibre firearms, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other logistical supplies.
Olaniyi Osoba, spokesperson for the 8th Division of the Nigerian Army and Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma, said the troops engaged the militants in a sustained offensive that forced the fighters to abandon their positions. The soldiers then pursued the retreating terrorists along their withdrawal routes, recovering a cache of abandoned weapons and equipment.
The haul included rocket‑propelled grenade (RPG) launch tubes, multiple RPG warheads, several IEDs, two motorcycles, battery chargers and various personal items. Osoba confirmed that the operation resulted in no casualties among the soldiers.
He highlighted the success as evidence of the Joint Task Force North West’s ongoing campaign to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks in the region. Osoba added that the Nigerian Army remains committed to maintaining offensive pressure on criminal groups, denying them freedom of action and safeguarding law‑abiding citizens in affected communities.
