Kebbi NBA Chairman: No corruption in judiciary

BIRNIN KEBBI — Aminu Hassan, Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Kebbi State Branch, denied claims of widespread corruption in Nigeria’s judiciary.

Speaking at the opening of the Equity Bar Law Week in Birnin Kebbi, Hassan addressed public concerns about how justice is administered.

He noted that some litigants who are unhappy with the evidence against them may try to influence judicial outcomes, but he emphasized that judges are bound to uphold the law and maintain ethical standards.

Hassan urged the public to report any misconduct and reminded that both offering and accepting bribes are illegal.

“We have always discouraged the giving and taking of bribes. The courts play a critical role in maintaining order and resolving disputes in society. We believe the judiciary remains the last hope of the common man,” he said.

Addressing delays in justice delivery, Hassan said reforms introduced in Kebbi State have sped up case management and adjudication.

He welcomed the state government’s push to digitise the judiciary, calling the initiative a positive move toward greater efficiency and alignment with global technological trends.

The NBA chairman encouraged legal practitioners to use the Law Week to refresh their professional knowledge and skills, noting that technological progress offers opportunities for faster and more effective justice delivery.

The Equity Bar Law Week was attended by Governor Nasir Idris, the state Attorney‑General and Commissioner for Justice, and other members of the legal community.
